Web Designer Firefox Add-ons by eckert

If you design websites, these will make your life so much easier. (updated 8-16)

First, use Firefox (download here).

Next, check out these add-ons.

ColorZilla – let’s you pick out any color on a webpage and save it’s RGB or HTML color value.

Web Developer’s Toolbar – this thing has saved many a day with it’s ruler, div selector and other great features.

Firebug – I don’t know how I survived without this. Offers real-time in-browser editing to any websites HTML, CSS and Javascript.

Screengrab! – Hands down, the best screen shooting program I’ve found to-date. You can save or copy the whole webpage, the visible portion, your own selection or the window.

IE View – face it, IE is a pain that has no standards. After using a standards-compliant browser to design and develop your site, use this plugin with a simple right-click option to view any page in IE. Then enjoy fixing all of it’s errors.

SEO Quake – a great toolbar to gain knowledge about the Google Page Rank, link structures and other important SEO factors.

I do fully agree: Firebug is essential and life-saving for me, too. – I also like to use “NoScript” to simulate non-Js-enabled browsing with one single klick. “HTML Validator” is also a favorite of mine, cause I like to read sth like: “0 Errors / 0 Warnungs” direcly in my status bar at the end of the day :-)

Attempt learning net design on your very own. Study Dreamweaver and Photoshop. I learned alot by surfing the net for nice web pages that I want to understand how to design, save the ınternet site in your computer. Then open the html file in Dreamweaver. You will be able to see the tables and how they genuinely created the website. It is easy to also open up the pictures folder and check out all the graphics used. Its sort of like reverse engineering / disecting the internet site.
